Busy busy weekend!

I feel like all of my posts include the word busy. The truth is, we are busy; by no means am I complaining and in fact, I thrive and love (well love might be a strong adjective, but definitely during deployments adore!) busy. I am the one scheduling our activities and boy, does it make time fly! Every morning we are out and about until eleven. I have a strict rule we must be home by that bewitching hour for a quick lunch and longg nap. Harpy loves that middle of the day nap and it is necessary for a successful bedtime! Very rarely, I will plan a long drive down to Honolulu around that nap time. We also don't really leave the house past five. H always eats her dinner, bathes, and then beddy by 6:30 (early... I know, I know). Schedules are my lifeline being a single parent.

Anyway, we have a wonderful weekend full of sunshine, the beach, church, a Honolulu lunch, and a BBQ. Of course, I didn't do the best job capturing photos but here are some from my phone. They mostly showcase H getting into EVERYTHING. She is such a busy lady these days. She loves pulling up on everything... love her curiosity but phew, I can't take my eye off her.

She adores the cereal boxes.

All of these pictures look just like Will; I can't get over it. I love this Turtle Dress! Perfect for Hawaii.

I schedule all of small FRG meetings in the Family Support Center Playroom for H.. Thank goodness everyone is willing to sit on those tiny chairs... Sorry!

And our daily run. Sweet girl just watches the scenery.

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! It is May tomorrow; a new month means one less month away from Will. Love that.

Beet Box

H and I have had a busy week running around but yesterday we were thrilled to stop and enjoy the beautiful North Shore. Although we are just minutes from the beach, our day to day life is very normal and at moments, it is easy to forget we live in Hawaii.

The North Shore is the Hawaii I pictured... Haleiwa, the closest town to us, is full of delicious restaurants, shaved ice galore, little shops, and turtle filled beaches. I honestly think you could walk barefoot into every restaurant or carry a surfboard. No one would even give it a second thought. The whole town/area has a very laid back easy-going feel. We met some friends at the Beet Box.. delicious. I loved it, but being an only veterinarian menu, I think it will be a Mama/Harper date place (not a Will place!). We (yes, H ate some too) had an Acai bowl. These are super popular in Hawaii and a jealous blend of fruit, yogurt, granola, and a dark berry called the Acai. Totally recommend everyone tries one once in their lives! My friend Sam picked it and we were thrilled with her choice!

Love this picture of the girls!!

and the little lady before Music Class... She was saying Happy Birthday to Aunt Lucy!!

Have a great weekend!

These are a few of my favorite things...

Right now H has lots of favorite things; I love watching her personality change and develop. So so sweet. Here is a phone dump of everything she is loving these last couple of days.

Getting into everything...

Chewing on her socks.. still a favorite!

She loves her new car seat (with her poodle blanket!)... Such a great change.

Watching Elmo... (yes, I let her watch 30 minutes of Seasame Street every morning)

Seat again...

Eating Pineapple :)

And doggies. My sweet neighbor's dogs. (adorable french bulldogs)

Tropical Gardening

Military housing, especially in Hawaii, has tons of variety. It varies from brand-new (jealous of those!) to historic homes that have not been touched since the 1940s to apartments, condos.. honestly you name it! We don't have tons of space here either so everything is super compact and close. Ours seems to fall somewhere in the middle. I am beyond thankful that we live on a quiet cul-du-sac with plenty of parking (seem silly to say but this is an island) and we have wonderful neighbors. An added bonus is our house only shares one wall... the garage! Anyway, the whole point to this dialogue is our home lacks some curb appeal. Although it is not horrible, it is definitely not beautiful; it honestly looks like standard military housing. Our previous owners left some beautiful bushes and aloe plants that needed a little TLC. This weekend H and I decided to take ownership of the garden and embrace our tropical landscape...with the help of some experts at Lowe's. Although not perfect, it is a good start!

And the pretty lady...

She is very busy these days... pulling up on everything. I could be wrong but I think we might have an early walker on our hands.. She is always, always moving and grooving.

and looking more and more like Will everyday! So many Will faces.

Hope everyone else had a great weekend!

A Day in the Life-Afghanistan Style

Well I gave you a tour of our home here in Hawaii... so here is a little glimpse of Will's world. He was kind enough to send some pictures of his office; I am always initially struck with how gray everything is. I know I have said that before, but Will's world seems to lack color... Camo and a gray landscape. Since Will is a Platoon Leader for the maintenance company, he share his office with his Platoon Sargent and the rest of computers are for other people who need access to the internet etc. When he is not flying or sleeping, he is in this office/checking out the air crafts! Fun... :) I definitely struggle envisioning his daily life (as I am sure most of you do)  but these pictures definitely help.

Today I had the Spouse's Club Luncheon... my first of many, hopefully. The theme this month was Hawaii and we made Leis; surprisingly this style of leis is actually very easy to make. Mine was the perfect size for H and she looked beautiful with it on. Hawaiian baby!

House Tour Part I

Last minute I decided to snap a couple of pictures of the house! When I uploaded them the kitchen, H's room, and the guest room just did not turn out (rooms are difficult to capture!) so I will have a house tour part II. For on post housing, our family currently qualifies for a three bedroom/ two bath based on Will's rank and Harper. The more kids you have the bigger the house.. makes sense. I turned our huge utility room into a small playroom/toy storage. The goal is to prevent toy clutter everywhere. Our house is really coming together. Next project... the yard.

And after dinner and bath tonight, UPS dropped off a surprise for H lady. Her new, big girl seat. I am so excited to try out her new Britax (rear facing) in hopes that it helps with our daily car seat battle. At a minimum it should be easier to get her in and buckled. She seemed jazzed... of course, she had to bring her poodle blanket. That blanket seems to be traveling with us everywhere these days!

She looks so much like Will in these photos! Sweet baby.
