I have been going through photos for Harp's baby book and something for her birthday. She has changed so much...

On Saturday Will asked me "Can you imagine our lives if we did not have H?" No; she is our little lady and we adore her. Thanks H for the best year ever...

This weekend we had a great time at both the pool and beach... Uncle Andy/Aunt Kimi were so kind and created a special "fresh" water pool for H on the ocean front. We (thankfully!) have a busy week to keep time moving before Daddy arrives.

Tot Time

Look at this....

This is the little lady at "Story Time" at the library (cutest program ever!)... She is moving and grooving to the music and shaking the little bell (she definitely got her dancing skills from Daddy). I just can't get over how old she looks! Can you believe in two weeks she will be one? We have officially entered a new phase of parenting. She is slowly walking (maybe a couple steps at a time) and EVERYWHERE... climbing in, out, around.. you name it.

It is so crazy to think a year ago I was super pregnant in Alabama with Will and now Harps and I are in Hawaii, and he is half-way around the world in Afghanistan. Crazy.

Someone also adores wearing sunglasses... I found her like this in her seat the other day!

We adore and love this little girl to pieces.... Will should be here in two weeks... we are beyond excited for his R and R.

More to come about our week later!

School Days

Monday is Harper's school day.. We love school. It is a great quick break for Mommy (Haircut day today!) and Harp's loves it! She adores her little friends and I think it is good she gets less one-on-one attention for a couple of hours. I picked her up a bit early today and she was mid-snack...

H only wants to feed herself these days... she actually is starting to master the spoon. It is adorable and very grown up.

We also got a VERY special surprise in the mail.... H has been wearing it non stop and LOVES it. We probably should have waited tell September 10th to open it butt we were SO excited when we saw it in the box and H will be wearing it for some birthday photos. A big thanks to Aunt Hanna!!!!! Thank you thank you. You made this little girls week...

Wordless Wednesday- Afghanistan Edition

(Some recent photos of Will from his company's facebook page...)

(apft= every couple of months (i honestly forget how often they do them) but a physical fitness test!)

Will and some of his soldiers "went outside the wire to help demolish a NG bird that rolled over the other day." (I took that description from the Facebook page...).

Ooo "Lei"

I would classify myself as a "half" crafty person; I enjoy some small crafting but I will never be the mom who can create all their kids clothes, create beautiful scrapebooks for each year, etc. I wish it was in my DNA but it is just not who I am (although I do adore seeing all the other mom's crafting!). However, with all of this being said, there has been a bit of crafting going on in the Caff household. I have been busy working on a couple of small things for the big 1 birthday party (another post, another time) but I also have been busy getting ready for a kick-off event on post. I was tasked (initially begrudgingly) to create ribbon leis. Yes, you read that correctly... creating ribbon leis. Although it initially seemed like a challenging task, it was actually super rhythmic and perfect pairing with the Olympics. I now can do one in 30 minutes... and actually think it is pretty fun!

(finished project)

I am sure I have posted this before but Harp's adores dogs... (to be honest I get a bit nervous when she wants to pet all of them, but there are a couple of special ones that I let H see with some mama supervision). And this has to be one of the cutest puppies I have ever seen.

(she loves making a duck face.. silly baby)

We also have a new "Mama" in the family... Harps has been talking this baby everywhere!

(this picture perfectly captures "sunscreen hair" a daily problem in our household!)

Splash Park

Phew, we have had a super busy week full of meetings and other fun stuff... although we are happy to be active, we just needed a fun break at the splash park.

Everyday, I am more and more surprised how much H is transforming from a baby to toddler. She is standing (unsupported) all day long and loving her toys; her communication skills have also started vastly improving. She signals for dogs (her favorite), shakes her head "yes" and "no", and signs for milk. Whenever I tell her "no" she quickly shakes her head... sassy sassy. Her favorite word is "mama".... all day everyday. It is very sweet.

Anyway, these pictures speak for themselves, but we had a wonderful afternoon with Harp's sweetest friend Teddy at the splash park in their neighborhood. On post there are scattered splash parks and this one is perfect for Tots... There were actually tons of babies there enjoying the beautiful Hawaiian weather.

(i adore this photo.... pure happiness)

(snack time. this picture also captures how tan H is.
we put in sunscreen multiple times a day but she just has that skin that tans.
i asked her pediatrician and he said no worries but we still use spf 70!
i think i can claim this one gene... despite her being will's twin)

(over) Half Way Celebration!

Today Harps and I spent the day at the beach celebrating (with our brigade) that we are over half way through the deployment.  Rear D (the men and women who help back in Hawaii) did a great job planning the event with tons of bounce houses, kid games, bbq food, etc. The setting and weather was unreal.

Harps and I spent most of the time chatting with families in our company but we also did a "shout out" video to Will and enjoyed some wonderful beach/play ground time. We were lucky enough to go with one of my best friends on the island, Margaret, who was beyond helpful with the little lady and the best of company. Her husband is also in Afghanistan with Will so it was perfect to go together. These pictures perfectly capture the beauty of Hawaii... how could you not love a day like this? (the only thing that was missing was Will and all of the other soldiers... but we are over half way and R and R is less than a month away!)

Some days..

Some days you just need to sit outside, by your house, and enjoy a turkey hot dog lunch in the beautiful Hawaiian sun...

(the woes of wearing a skirt are perfectly featured above!)
