Thimble Islands and Maritime Aquarium

Phew, I am SO behind on blogging... I guess that goes hand and hand with a busy, fun-filled Connecticut trip! This weekend we spent at Gigi/Pop's tour house. It was wonderful. Sunday we went on a boat tour of Thimble Islands; the Thimble Islands are the most adorable series of homes on separate tiny islands... beautiful homes. I totally recommend the tour to all local Connecticutians. H adored the boat ride.

We also went to the Aquarium today. I guess we have been on a nautical kick around here. The local aquarium in Norwalk is the perfect day outing and H was thrilled to see the fish and sharks galore. She even "petted" a shark... I am not sure many 9 month olds can claim that.

Thank Gigi and Pops for a wonderful trip! We are going to miss you and can't wait to see you again... soon enough! I love this last picture of H and Molly; although it is a bit blurry it perfectly captures their relationship. Molly is a wonderful role model for H and an amazing helper/babysitter! H is a lucky little lady.

H and I are off to Minnesota for a quick week trip to visit family and see my best friends from college! It is going to be a busy, fun week; we are staying at my parents lake house with limited internet! Expect a big post when we are back and settled in Hawaii!

Father's Day 2012

Happy first Father's Day to our sweet Will/Daddy! This year we were miles apart but still celebrated in our own way! We were also lucky enough to celebrate with Pops and Papa. When Harper was born, Will and I decided Mother's Day/Father's Day was the perfect excuse to do a "Family Activity" instead of the typical gift exchange; with us moving around so often in the military, both "holidays" give us a family day to go to the local zoo, a kid's splash park, botanical gardens... etc etc. Obviously this year was unique with Will in Afghanistan, but Harps and I decided to send a photo album. One of my wonderful friends in Hawaii was sweet enough to share her photography skills with us and take some adorable pictures of Harps! I love these photos! I can't believe H is already nine months old... shocking how quickly time flies. We love you Daddy... can't wait tell next year when we can spend Father's Day with you! H and I spent the day at the Zoo in Connecticut with the family... more to come on that later.

Also, in honor of Father's Day, almost everyone thinks H and Will are twins; Will adores being "twins". What do you think?

H... (although not the best photo, I tried to get a similar angle!)

and...

Will is a bit older in this photo (with more hair!).

Happy Father's Day Will!

Pops/Papa Love and Pies

H has been getting TONS of grandparent love. She is beyond lucky to have the best set of two grandparents who adore her; I think babies have the ability to sense close relatives because she didn't even skip a beat meeting them. In fact, she was so happy to see them. Sweet girl.

Some good Pop's love before bed.

and a special trip to Toys R Us with Papa!

She was smitten with this Elmo chair... Too bad we couldn't fit it in our luggage home. It doesn't quite match our living room decor... (I guess I am one of thoseee moms, we will see how long it lasts!)

and the BEST pie date with Gigi and Aunt Momo. There is a little pie shop in Westport that is delicious; the pies are "personal" pies and seriously delicious! This trip resulted in 5 pies... arguably over the top sampling but beyond delicious and the best snack I've ever had. I could honestly work there (although that may not be the best choice for my skinny jeans!). We have been frequent visitors these last couple of weeks. Totally worth it! Thanks Gigi for taking us!

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend! Happy almost Father's Day!

Westport Week

Well my blog has been suffering with our recent trip. June is flying by as we are busy with family time; it is so nice to be able to spend days with both sets of grandparents and all the aunts/uncles! H is loving every minute of it and soaking in the extra attention (as if she doesn't get enough already! :) ). We have loved the East Coast cuisine, going on some jogs, and of course shopping away! Here are TONS of pictures from the last couple of days!

H is loving all the animals around... She is obsessed with cats and dogs.. oh my. In the next ten years we may just have to get a dog..  Thank goodness both Shelby and Dottie are very kind and gentle with her.

She also enjoyed her first New York Pizza. Sorry, but hands down, the New York area has the best pizza... Luckily two of her uncles, Jeff and Dex, work at this delicious adorable pizza restaurant so we have been going for plenty of visits!

and some pool time with Aunt Momo!

and some Dad/Allie runs. My dad and I have been running together for ten (plus) years. Crazy how quickly time flies!

Hope everyone else had a wonderful weekend!

Tot Lot

I love having H in Westport because we can do some activities I did as a child. I honestly think Westport has one of the BEST playgrounds around... it is right on the ocean with plenty of sections for different age appropriate activities. Since (oddly enough) Schofield Barracks does not have swings, Aunt J and I thought Harps needed to try them out. Although she liked them, I think the "Tot Lot" will be more popular in her later years. The weather is a bit cooler here so H and I are embracing this sweater weather while we can!

Also here is sweet H on her Daddy's old Babar towel! Will adored Babar as a child.. maybe H will too?

and our Blacker. We had to leave our cats in Westport, back at their old home, while we sorted out the whole living situation. Between the vigorous Hawaii quarantine process, the long flight, and living in the hotel (and deployment!) it was just not feasible to bring them out to Hawaii. I was happy to see their sweet faces!

So many more fun things to share later!
