Welcome to our blog!! I decided to create this because at any moment we will be welcoming our newest addition to the family. Harper Day! Since most of our family and friends are miles away (and that distance will grow further with our move to Hawaii), this seemed like a perfect outlet to keep everyone updated on our lives! Currently the blog is titled Harper's Haven... The verdict is still out on that one. We are hopeful that we will stumble upon a different name that will allow the blog to grow with us... but for now Harper's Haven it is!
Will and I live a somewhat unconventional life compared to most of our non-military friends; we seem to be always kept on our toes with the military lifestyle with big moves, deployments, extra lurking in the shadows. Although some would perceive these changes as negative, Will and I both love our lives and wouldn't change it for the world. We are so grateful to be part of this selfless community. Anyway, I am hopeful this blog can help clarify and answer some military oriented questions for everyone.
We currently are stationed at Fort Rucker in the Southeast corner of Alabama. Although a very rural part of the state, we have come to love it here. I actually think I will be sad to go. We have been fortunate to make some wonderful friends and really explore the South. We live in the "old" housing on post, which is a one story duplex; shockingly, we actually have four bedrooms (despite our small family), but believe me.... it is not fancy or big... however we are happy to call it our home. Here are a couple pictures for those who are curious.
Onto Harper Girl.
We are beyond excited and patiently waiting on her slow arrival. Right now I am 39.5 weeks and desperately trying to walk her out. No luck so far. My doctor is going to let me go to 41 weeks and then on September 18th, I will be induced. Although I could be induced sooner, I am hopeful to go into natural labor with this time line and my doctor is very supportive. We are just minutes, days, or weeks away (fingers crossed for days!) to meeting our baby girl.
Here are a couple snapshots of the nursery. Although I would have loved to paint, put up draperies, and do a "full" nursery, it just didn't make sense with our upcoming move. Instead, we just moved our guest bed over and put up some small girly decorations to welcome Harper for her first couple of months. I can't wait to get settled in Hawaii and really go to town on girly decor... but for now this will work.
This changing table was a wonderful special gift from Harper's Uncle Greg! He built it himself... Impressive, I know. We are thrilled and grateful for such a gift and know many Caffery children will love it in the future!
